and I congratulate Sarek Buchan for a wonderful fiddle performance
at the Barry County Fair's "Talent Contest." Eight year
old Sarek took top honors in the contest, which included
contestants as old as 19 yrs., with a medley of fiddle dance
tunes. This was Sarek's first contest. He has been studying the
violin for four years, and visiting me for fiddle lessons for
almost a year. |

Any one can learn to play music, if they
feel so inclined. The key is in the discipline, which is the hardest part.
I always say,
"learning to learn" is the first
hurdle. Once the habit of a
certain amount of time allotted a day is established, anything is possible.
In an effort to arm the world with
implements of peace,
I've been showing folks how to play instruments for over 30 years now, and
having a great time at it. I've met wonderful people, and have been privileged
to see how folks evolve personally when the music begins flowing through them.
I teach beginners as well as those looking to improve an established technique.
I
perform shows using guitar, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, viola, mandola, and
cello, but my preferences for teaching is with guitar, mandolin, and fiddle.
