I Knew a Dragon

1. I saw a castle, there were ladies in lace with gold and diamonds flashing.

In the sunshine, there where pennants flying and maidens sighing.

And I wondered, did I really see or was this all a dream?

Bridge: I knew a dragon, who was old beyond compare.

He told me all his secrets, he told me of the earth.

He told me all his secrets, he told me all his secrets.

2. Burning sunshine, on a galley I toil with no hope of freedom.

Here I’ll die, but the circle is vast I’m not ready to pass.

Where’s salvation, a Messiah they say in a far future day.

Bridge: I knew a wise man, who was old beyond compare.

He told me all his secrets, he told me of a lord.

He told me all his secrets, he told me all his secrets.

3. Spanish galleons, full sails filled on a far horizon.

Sink her slow boys, we’ll be rich for life with all that Spanish gold.

When will this end, am I destined by fate to return through the gate.

Someday, when wisdom prevails I won't fear to fail.

Bridge: I knew a gypsy, who was old beyond compare.

She told me all her secrets, of the spirits in the air

She told me all her secrets, she told me all her secrets.

4. I saw a castle, there were ladies in lace with gold and diamonds flashing.

In the sunshine, there were pennants flying and maidens sighing.

And I wondered, did I really see or was this all a dream.

Bridge: I knew a dragon, who was old beyond compare.

He told me all his secrets, he told me of the earth.

He told me all his secrets, he told me of a lord.

He told me all his secrets, of the spirits in the air.
