Leaving Home Nick introduced this song to the band a few years ago, and we've got a lot of miles out of it. This is a recording of Nick Kroes and Becca Shilt on guitars, and me on mandolin. Many of you know the song as "Frankie and Johnny", a tragic ballad of alcohol and cocaine abuse, infidelity, and murder, although most just know the chorus and have never actually listened to all the lyrics. We do this song in the style of "Charlie Poole and his North Carolina Ramblers," one of the most influential string bands of the1920's. Bit o' info: Charlie Poole, at the height of his fame, and just prior to heading to a contract in Hollywood, CA., drank himself to death.
