Hawks and Owls the acoustic evolution of rural American music Bruce Ling started playing guitar at age four under the tutelage of his father and uncle, both working musicians performing Country/Western and Rock and Roll. Since 1997, Bruce has fronted his own band "Hawks and Owls string band", playing a mix of acoustic, country blues, bluegrass, Appalachian, and original fiddle tunes. He is widely regarded for his thorough understanding of the evolution of Traditional American Music, and treats audiences to colorful facts regarding the music from the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Bruce has shared the stage with Jerry Reed, Bobby Goldsboro, saxophonist Boots Randolph and Grammy award winning Cajun fiddler Michael Doucet. He has also performed with Jazz great Chris Brubeck. In addition to performing in concert settings, this group is just as reliable playing for Contra and Square dances, as well as providing entertainment for Wedding receptions, Corporate functions, and fundraisers.
