Hawks and Owls the acoustic evolution of rural American music When Bruce Ling, Becca Lynn, Jason Wheeler, and Micah Ling pick up their instruments, folks swing their partners, and feet start to move. That's because the high-energy combination of fiddle, cello, mandolin, and guitar creates acoustic music of the free-flowing, toe-tapping variety. Clean, tight instrumentation backed up by crisp vocals, showcases tunes drawn from Appalachia, Country Blues, Bluegrass, Swing and Celtic, as well as original compositions. It's Saturday night Grange Hall music. In addition to performing for dances, this group is just as reliable in concert settings, as well as providing entertainment for receptions, and fundraisers. Bruce's understanding of the evolution of traditional music is expressed in their performances, where the audience is treated to colorful facts about the homegrown music of the 18th and 19th centuries in America, and the immigration of music from the British Isles in those periods. Hawks and Owls are available for performances, dances (caller included), and workshops. for bookings contact: Bruce Ling 616-785-3208 or Susan Fawcett Fox On The Hill Productions http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=157896998 |
